Before investing her first $100,000 angel seed stage check at twenty-five, Kalin made Partner at 357 Investments. Kalin has successfully negotiated $100M worth of commercial property contracts and led real-asset based income strategies in physical scale office leasing decisions for a $400M net-worth startup portfolio clientele of well-known investors, the likes of Founders Fund, Innovation Endeavors, Signia Ventures, and many more. With the unique advantage to see predictive growth in real-time, Kalin naturally followed her instincts in becoming an investor + advisor to select Founders. Kalin has been featured in TechCrunch, Hoodline, The Bold Italic and KRON4 is a self-published author of The Founder’s Guide to Hacking Office Space, as well as an invitational keynote speaker at global forums such as México Economía Digital in Mexico City and Pause Fest in Melbourne, Australia.
Always an artist at heart, Kalin first combined her passion for design + purchasing power through her role in securing off-market properties on behalf of the likes of Dave Eggers, the famous author and founder of McSweeney's publishing house + his education initiative 826 Valencia, Andy Rappaport past Partner at August Capital one of the first venture capital firms in Silicon Valley, his wife Deborah Rappaport + their philanthropic support for the arts at 1275 Minnesota Street, and Josette Melchor a fellow Latina, Musician and Founder + her digital arts non-profit Gray Area.
As a designer, Kalin has been recognized by Heather James Fine Art gallery as an upcoming artist name to watch with her debut among a collection of rare female artists such as Grace Hartigan and Helen Frankenthaler in San Francisco in October 2019. Her first piece of her 11:11 collection premiered at an exclusive invitation to the WACO Wearable Art Gala in Los Angeles hosted by Tina Knowles with a guest list of celebrities such as Beyoncé, Kelly Rowland, Viola Davis, Angela Bassett, Felicia Horowitz, Tiffany Haddish + Regina King.
Kalin is the creator and host of the Earnings podcast, a podcast sponsored by Silicon Valley Bank. Earnings is the first-ever podcast dedicated to highlighting the rare female voices in Venture Capital, driving positive returns and positive change to create more equality at the investment table. Earnings interviewees have been named in Forbes as female VC leaders, business role models of the year, have personally led over 50+ investments with 20+ exits including IPOs as well as acquisitions and have raised $40M+ as solo female GP's to name a few accomplishments.
Kalin received her Media Studies degree with an emphasis in International Business at the undergraduate level at the Haas Business School, from the University of California, Berkeley at the young age of twenty-one. Kalin was chosen as an M. Webber Foundation Educational Foundation Scholar, a Frank M. Gertrude R. Doyle Foundation Scholar as well as a National Hispanic Business Women Association (NHBWA) Scholar. Prior to, Kalin was named to the All-State Academic Team and held the position of Student Government President with a $2M budget under her management at age nineteen, overseeing a constituency of twenty-five.
Throughout her career, Kalin has served the evolution of education in a longtime role as a mentor at UnCollege which has been profiled in world publications like CNN, The New York Times, ABC, Fast Company, donates resources to IGNITE (Inspiring Girls Now in Technology Education) Worldwide's Spring Gala, and receives invitations to attend international forums such as The School of Entrepreneurship & Innovation Forum (SEI) in Turin, Italy, hosted by an Italian multi-industry business dynasty, the Agnelli family, to promote diverse entrepreneurial inclination + represent the minority female investor population.
Coined as an auto-didactic polymath, Kalin is currently studying genetics at Stanford, is a recording singer + songwriter, avid global traveler (16+ countries and counting), an average-proficiency surf enthusiast, and multilingual in Spanish with a hint of Italian.
